Toxic Living: Exposure and Embodiment in the Anthropocene

Over two days in March 2026, researchers came together for 'Toxic Living: Exposure and Embodiment in the Anthropocene', workshops hosted by Katherine Kenny, Jaky Troy, Jianni Tien, Imogen Harper and Henrietta Byrne from the University of Sydney.

The workshop looked at toxic living — how environmental exposures and embodied health intersect within the chemically saturated landscapes of contemporary life.

Peak highlights included panel sessions across disciplines, a walk on Country with the Gamay Rangers, and a collaborative workshop that gave attendees space to think and build together.

The workshop was courtesy Academy of the Social Sciences in Australia, The Australian Sociological Association, and the School of Social and Political Sciences at Sydney's Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences for supporting the event.
